Sometimes called “Penny’s Path” after Penny Durant, this is an easy one mile hike through Durant’s vineyards, olive groves, lavender fields, and sheep pastures.  Good for a mid-day excursion, this is ideally located to be used as a hiking break between local wine tastings.  Open May-October during Durant's normal business hours.

The Oregon Zoo is located on 64 forested acres in Portland’s Washington Park. Home to more than 160 animal species, the zoo combines immersive exhibits with a strong focus on conservation, education, and animal care. Visitors can see everything from elephants and polar bears to red pandas and condors while learning about efforts to protect endangered wildlife. The zoo is especially recognized for its conservation programs, including work with California condors and other threatened species.

Located in beautiful Washington Park, the International Rose Test Garden boasts more than 10,000 individual rose bushes, in bloom from late May through October and representing over 610 different rose varieties.

Lan Su Chinese Garden is an authentic Ming Dynasty–style garden in Portland’s historic Chinatown, created through a collaboration between Portland and its sister city, Suzhou, China. The garden features serene ponds, elegant pavilions, winding pathways, and traditional Chinese architecture designed to symbolize harmony between nature and humanity. Visitors can enjoy seasonal displays, cultural exhibits, and a traditional tea house overlooking the central lake. It is widely regarded as one of the most authentic Chinese gardens outside of China and offers a peaceful retreat in the heart of the city.

This internationally-recognized garden is a beautiful place to visit any time of the year. April through June, when the azaleas and rhododendrons are in full bloom, the garden is a riot of color. A spring-fed lake surrounds much of the garden, attracting countless waterfowl which nest and feed in this natural habitat. In fall and winter, trees and shrubs add their own color and interesting structure.
